As early as February 2003 Birkhäuser+GBC was certified to the then new process-oriented norm, ISO 9001:2000; the certification to the capital-oriented ISO 9001:1994 was superseded by it.

Before this, extensive process analyses were done, and the results formed the basis for the new process definitions.  As a further result of the process analyses, the preliminary measures achieved a great reduction in waiting times, expenditures due to mistakes, and customer complaints.  The successful implementation of the norm revision to ISO 9001:2008 was able to be successfully certified as early as February 2009.
